5th and 6th of September we were in 21st International Games Festival of Córdoba, testing our games to get assured that they are apt for the audience that they are directed for. We were invited to the “Espacio de Creación” (Creation Space), in which we were able to obtain opinions and criticisms from anonymous and unknown people during a time, what is very valuable for a future commercial launch.
In general, it was a very nice experience. As it has been proved in more private testing, games are interesting and amusing in a very inmediate way, although there have been proposed some improvements for our most recently game, Knights versus Zombies, but they are being now developed for future ocassions.
Young Explorers was one of the most valued games, because it is one of the most tested games of the business, and their easy understanding but complex design made that kids and adults enjoyed it and when you start a game, you can’t stop drawing cards until decks are exhausted.
The game that we presented to “Espacio de Creación”, Knights versus Zombies, requires some improvements, but, once applied, with a suitable understanding of the rules, those who play it can be addicted to it and have an excellent familiar experience or friends’ meeting. We could check it in a experience that we had with a family during the Festival. Improvements will be to change the skills’ names for icons that describe their effect, as maximizing the early game options with extra economy points and a secret weapon that I have to develop but that promise so much amusement.
Gravinoids was only tested once, but those who played it we get much fun. By the way, I lost scoring 10 points when the winner scored 16 points, being the last player. I want you to know this in order to show that even the creator of the game can lose despite he controls the rules of the game.
Words was well valued, but we noticed that it is not necessarily a game for all people. I don’t say it is boring, I say that it requires an imagination and an improvisation that all people don’t have. However, if you enjoy parties and to say the most silly thing possible, Words is your game. You can make up the inventions you want in your story regarding you include the two words in your turn.
By last, Merchants of Babylon couldn’t be proved. Maybe next time…
